Emmy Awards - Hour #3

LL COOL J!! I miss him rapping. What has he done for himself since then? This is the movies/miniseries section of the show, also known as "HBO cleans up here". The big 4 networks don't seem to do movies anymore, so it's up to HBO and the UK via PBS to do them all. Since I don't get HBO, I don't care as much about the nominees. But Jane Lynch just had the line of the night "People always ask me why I'm a lesbian, ladies & gentlemen, the cast of Entourage." AWESOME! Downtown Abbey won for writing. Julian Fellows also wrote "Gosford Park" for which he won an Oscar. Do y'all care about that bit of trivia? Nope? Didn't think so. Supporting actress in a miniseries/movie goes to Maggie Smith! I loved her in Gosford Park and My House in Umbria for which she won an Emmy. Still don't care? Well, I don't care that you don't care. I'm just glad Evan Rachel Wood didn't win. She frightens me and she used to seriously date Marilyn Manson. Once you seriously date/get engaged to Marilyn Manson, I think you lose all rights to win entertainment awards. This means you too Rose McGowan. I'd include Dita Von Teese, but I still don't know what the heck she does or who she is.

Paula Abdul comes out for a quick joke with the accountants. Now Amy Poehler & Melissa McCarthy are hilarious together! Lead actor in a miniseries or movies goes to Barry Pepper for The Kennedys movie that everyone hated, well, the Kennedys hated it and nobody seemed to want to air it. But he was in that horrible Battlefield Earth movie, after that, anything looks good. Emmys are loving Downtown Abbey (and it being British, it's pronounced Downton Abbey).  Now the president of the Academy is introducing those we have lost this year, or as I call it "The Death Parade". Who are these guys singing the 5 millionth version of Hallelujah? It was originally written by Leonard Cohen, but Jeff Buckley gave it some popularity. Who wins the award for most applause for a dead celebrity? I couldn't tell. Thanks to Anna Torv, I just found out it was The CANADIAN Tenors. Dang it, taking away good paying jobs from AMERICANS!

Supporting actor in a movie/miniseries nominees are glad PBS wasn't in this category. It went to Guy Pearce. I'll always think of him as the guy from Memento and LA Confidential. Some will always think of him as that lady from Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. For lead actress, the Emmy goes to Kate Winslet. She seems happy.  She seems a little TOO eager for awards though. But she's a very talented actress. For outstanding miniseries or movie, the Emmy goes to Downtown Abbey. Wow, they like it a lot more than HBO huh. You know a British accent doesn't make it better, right? Let's make it AMERICAN dang it!

For outstanding drama series, the winner is Mad Men! I can't complain. It's a great show. This season was AMAZING! Although the creator/executive producer Matthew Weiner can be a bit of a jerk. The episode titled "The Suitcase" was the best hour of TV I saw this year.

And Gwyneth gets to give out the comedy series Emmy. I'm SOOO over her. She's pretentious, that dress? Really a belly shirt? Are you a slutty 14 year old? Her death scenes in Contagion made me laugh. Modern Family won, big surprise, but it's a good show. Congrats to them.

OK show, some good winners. Some funny parts, some unfunny. Such is life.

Emmy Awards - Hour #2

Starting off hour 2 with The Lonely Island and Michael Bolton doing their song from SNL. Then here comes other songs from this season, one of the few funny spots on SNL. Instead of Andy, Jimmy, and Gaga, it was Ed Helms, John Stamos, and my fave Maya Rudolph, then Akon told us what he just did. Now Lea Michelle & Ian Somerhalder are unfunny presenting a directing award. How did SNL win? One good episode a year and they win an award? Why is Anna Paquin still allowed to "act", if you can call it that? I do love The Daily Show, but 9 wins in a row, c'mon, spread the love Stewart!

Now, time for drama, still loving the goofy singers. I'm a fan of all those actors, well, except Wilmer. Oh yeah, not a fan of Ashton Kutcher either. But now he's on a CBS show and I work for a CBS station, so, I'll keep it to myself :-) And the Emmy goes to FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!!! How flipping awesome. I loved that show and it deserved so much more recognition. I love Mad Men, but I'm so happy for FNL! And supporting actress in a drama series goes to Margo Martindale from Justified. I've never seen it, but I've heard it's awesome! Everyone is tripping up the stage too. What's with that? Is everyone drunk or is it bad set design? I have never seen any episodes of the shows nominated for directing in a drama series. Martin Scorsese won for Boardwalk Empire, which is here is ok, but boring at times. Flipped it over to see the Falcons & Eagles, there was a fumble and a big Falcons DE picked it up and ran. I love seeing big defensive linemen running. Now, supporting actor in a drama goes to Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones, never watched it, but somewhere, Chelsea Handler just wet herself.

Anderson Cooper is hosting an AC360 segment on a lady (Lynch) who is responsible for Jersey all over TV. Unfortunately, it featured the cast of Jersey Shore, therefore it was awful and pointless. Look, Tom let Kate out for the night! Now Lead Actress in a drama series, the Emmy goes to Julianna Margulies for The Good Wife. I would have loved Connie Britton to win, but I'm happy Julianna won, because she is AWESOME on The Good Wife. But that dress still looks stupid. But I've loved her since ER. Now lead actor, it better be Jon Hamm or Kyle Chandler. KYLE!!! I am glad the Emmys are finally recognizing Friday Night Lights. I just hate it took so long. Wait til it's off the air? Oh well, better than nothing.

That's hour 2!

Emmy Awards - Hour #1

The wonderful Jane Lynch is hosting and starting off with a production number full of singing and comedy featuring half of the people on TV. The Mad Men part was the best by far. I like the idea of The Emmytones (goofy singers featuring celebrities), I hate the idea of Wilmer Valderrammaa being in it though. Why hasn't he gone away from the entertainment world completely. But the first presenters, Jimmys Kimmel & Fallon were funny. First winner, Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy is Julie Bowen!! WTG, she was hilarious in the Halloween episode of Modern Family! Although looking at her dress, she needs to eat more and work out less. Julianna Margulies is presenting Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy. She's funny, but something attack the top of her dress. Or else someone had to use the rest of their gems in their Bedazzler. The winner is Ty Burrell, from Modern Family. Starting off to be a good night for them. Ricky Gervais' part was pretty funny I have to say. And now ZOOEY!!

Let's see, Jane Lynch did a Tea Party joke, now Charlie Sheen is presenting. Why? Can't we send him & Wilmer off somewhere? I have to say, he does look to be in bad shape. Now, Lead Actor in a Comedy is Jim Parsons! I do love Sheldon and Big Bang Theory, but would have loved a Steve Carrell win. An accent joke with Sofia Vergara? Wow, that's as original as a pair of Gap Khakis! LOVED Amy Poehler coming up on stage when her name was announced though, and then the others. What a great plan!! :-) It's just like Miss America! Even Edie Falco played along and she's about as funny as psoriatic arthritis. And Laura Linney who is even less funny than that. WOW!! Melissa McCarthy won!! Go SOOKIE!! (Not that awful Anna Paquin Sookie, but the real Gilmore Girls Sookie). Bridesmaids must have helped her a lot. I was rooting for Martha Plimpton, but I like Melissa.

I loved The Office parody. I love all the different shows being parodied. But why was Kim Kardashian there? I know she was making fun of herself, but really, Kim, making fun of you is our job! Showing some of these reality shows further shows why I don't like most of these crappy shows. And since I watch none of those reality competition shows, I don't care that Amazing Race won. I do always love the writer nominees intros, and shock, Daily Show wins again. That's hour 1 y'all!
