Hey y'all, it's the Oscars - Part 3!!!

Here's part 3 now and it starts with the prediction box joke number too many, where's Octavia? She's not there!! She's where? Oh, presenting Common and John Legend's powerful performance of "Glory" from Selma. Even Captain Kirk himself, Chris Pine, was brought to tears. Octavia (from the state of Alabama, you get to claim her Auburn fans!) reminded the audience that 47 years ago, the Oscars were postponed due to the murder of Dr. King. The visual of the choir marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge and the solemn looks on their faces, all races & creeds, just amazing. Although, now for shallow, John Legend's wife Chrissy Teigen just annoys me for some reason.

Benedict Cumberbatch, it's not only the most awesome name in show business, it's also the sound you get when you ask John Travolta to pronounce Ben Affleck. Bahaha, best joke of the night. Oh Travolta. But Benny gave some great mugging to the camera during that. Now, Idina Menzel comes out looking fantastic and she's presenting with John Travolta. RIP to the poor roadkill who died to make his ugly wig and the bike chain that made his necklace. But we are over the Adele Dezeem joke right? And when was the last time Travolta had a hit movie? In other words, WHY IS HE THERE? The Oscar for best song rightly went to Common and John Legend for Glory. What an eloquent and quietly powerful speech from them. Next, a special performance by Lady Gaga, yes, you heard that right.

So Scarlett Johannson and sparkly neck parasite comes out to talk about the movie The Sound of Music. I watched TSOM for the first time when I did summer missions in Kansas. I had no broadcast TV, just some videotapes. One was TSOM and I figured, why not. It was actually kinda cool and dark with escaping from Nazis and stuff. Now, to sing music from it is...NOT Carrie Underwood, but Lady Gaga. And she was AMAZING! You can tell she has had proper vocal training. Julie Andrews validation of her after meant so much to her, it was really quite wonderful. I think Gaga wants to take over Broadway or something. I think she could do it. She's been playing a character for the past several years. This shows her real voice, not that generic dance crap. I love Julie Andrews, she seems like the nicest British lady EVER! Best original score goes to Alexandre Desplat for The Grand Budapest Hotel. Great work, perfect for the film.

Now Eddie Murphy comes out to present original screenplay. I hoped for Boyhood so Linklater would win SOMETHING tonight, but Birdman's screenplay was so original and crazy how could you not love it. But apparently to write that movie, you have to have weird hair, so I guess I'm not writing it. Now Queen Oprah comes out to present adapted screenplay, not to my choice Whiplash, but to Graham Moore for The Theory of Everything. Good solid script, but his speech was amazing. It was about how he tried to kill himself at 16 due to depression and feeling weird. He told everyone to "Stay weird. Stay different, and then when it's your turn and you are standing on this stage please pass the same message along." Awesome. Was that John Stamos in the audience? Is yogurt a sponsor?

Ben Affleck presents Best Director to Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu for Birdman. In his speech he mentions Michael Keaton's underwear. In the movie, it makes sense, I promise, still a little odd. LOL. Cate Blanchett presents best actor to not my choice of Beetlejuice himself Mr. Michael Keaton and his bold performance in Birdman, but to Eddie Redmayne for his physical performance in The Theory of Everything. He seems like a nice guy though but also seems 16.

My Granny used to watch As the World Turns, later I started watching it. One actress on there was playing twin sister/cousins. She won an Emmy. Now, she's an Oscar winner, Julianne Moore. She was so heartbreaking in Still Alice, a movie about a 50 year old with early onset Alzheimers. Just amazing. So was Reese in Wild, but Julianne just broke your heart. Glad Matthew McConaughey didn't go all hippy dippy trippy like last year. Julianne's speech was great too!

Sean Penn comes out to present best picture. He still annoys and scares me and he took too long after reading it because he'd worked with the director on 21 Grams. Penn looks like he smells like cigarettes, whiskey, and get off my lawn-ness. Birdman was my choice for best picture anyway, so I'm happy about it. Innaritu did make a great joke about 2 Mexicans in a row winning best director and wondering if the government will put up a law to prevent that haha

The show overall was meh, nothing too exciting, no surprises. No very well dressed or very badly dressed. Just meh. Oh well, it's still the Oscars and I still love movies, forever and always.

Enjoy movies yourself. Good night, time to watch The Walking Dead.
